Why is a dog's heart rate faster than a human's?

Since dogs are smaller than humans they are expected to have faster heart rates. It is the same with cats vs dogs. Cats tend to be smaller than dogs and can have heart rates as fast as 200 bpm compared to dogs that have 180 bpm Smaller animals have smaller hearts so it has to beat faster to get blood through the body when compared to larger animals
