Why does the blood pressure and heart rate go high sky after surgery??

the levels are not super sky high, but your body is in a state of stress--it doesn%26#039;t know that you just had surgery, but rather a traumatic event where it was opened. patients can go into shock and must be given some meds to help body go from a state of stress to a more relaxed state after surgical %26quot;Trauma%26quot;.

Why does the blood pressure and heart rate go high sky after surgery??

It shouldn%26#039;t.

People with essential hypertension tend to be more labile with their pressures (they go both higher and lower than non-hypertensives%26#039;) and may need additional treatment peri-operatively. Undiagnosed hypertensives may have the same course.

I believe (and have no scientific evidence to back this belief up) that %26quot;normal%26quot; people who act that way during anesthesia and surgery are likely to become hypertensive in the future. Perhaps those people have some underlying, inborn difference that we bring out when we subject them to the stresses of surgery and anesthesia.

The stress that surgery puts on the body cause a stress response from the body - increased catecholamines and glucocorticoids are secreted, and that can raise blood blood pressure and heart rate.

Inadequately treated pain will also raise blood pressure and heart rate.
