well this depends on if you want to burn calories or are you doing it for cardio?..doing it for cardio reasons would mean a slightly higher heart rate then for burning calories..also it would depend on your age and weight..if you go to a gym get on a stair master or a tread mill,it would calculate the currect heat rate for you and even gives you a scale to determine for cardio and calories (fat burn)

60 - 80% of your theoretical maximum heartrate, which is 220 - your age.
Kind of arbitrary, but a good guideline. You should workout hard enough that you can%26#039;t carry on a conversation while you do it.
